Welcome!  My name is Hannah M. Julien. I am a clinical speech-language pathologist with plans to work toward becoming a researcher-educator-clinical instructor. I completed my PhD in Speech-Language Hearing Sciences at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.  My dissertation focused on social communication, specifically, communication repair, in typically-developing preschool age children and preschool age children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I practice as a speech-language clinician in early childhood special education. I love early communication development. Recently, I have been honored to serve as an adjunct faculty instructor and teach graduate students training to become SLPs. I love working with children and their families and have experience across various settings, including a small private practice and a large children’s hospital.

A note about my own learning: Responsible stewardship for the future of our profession demands self-reflection, learning, and action. I recognize my enormous privilege and that my success is a result of systemic educational and professional inequalities. I have blind-spots in this work. I am committed to a relentless effort to create and protect space for marginalized and under-represented students in classrooms and professional spaces.
